Mail BuddyYour mail lives in Gmail. It stays there.
Mail Buddy is a window onto your Google accounts, not a second mailbox. It asks Google for each message when you open it, through Google's official APIs, and shows it to you. Here is exactly what happens to your data.

Your email is never stored permanently on your computer.
Your email and chats are always fetched from Google through its API. The few things kept on your computer are listed here.

What Mail Buddy asks Google for, and why.
You approve these on Google's screen when you add an account. You can review or remove them any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Gmail
Read, send and organise your mail: archive, label, star, mark read, move to Trash or Spam. It never permanently deletes mail.
Google Chat
Only if you turn chat on for an account: show and send messages, mark them read, start chats and leave Spaces.
Contacts
Suggest addresses and names as you type a recipient or @mention someone.
Google Drive (optional)
Only if you keep notes in Drive. Mail Buddy can see just the one notes file it creates, nothing else in your Drive.
Writing help
When you click a rewrite, only that text is sent to Google Gemini. Nothing else, and never on its own.
Your sign-in
Your email address, so Mail Buddy knows which account is which. Never your password.
Mail Buddy's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Removing everything takes a minute.
Remove an account
In Settings › Accounts, select it and click −. Mail Buddy revokes its access with Google and deletes that account's sign-in and cached messages from your computer.
Clear the cache
Settings › General › Clear Cache deletes every saved copy of messages and chats on your computer. Nothing is deleted from Gmail.
Take notes out of Drive
Turn off Keep notes in Google Drive for the account, then delete the “Mail Buddy Notes” file from your Drive.
Uninstall
Deleting Mail Buddy and its data folder removes everything it stored on your computer. Your mail is untouched in Gmail.
